R&B crooner Maxwell's turn on 'VH1 Storytellers' will premiere Sunday, June 17 at 11PM. The Grammy Award-winning soul singer taped his performance a few weeks ago to a crowd of about 150 people while backed by his 10-piece band at Metropolis Studios in New York City.

During the taping, the Grammy winning artist told the crowd, "Storytellers has been around for 15 years, and it's been 15 years since I put out my first album 'Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite' ... You have this dream as a kid, and the next thing you know you're at 'VH1 Storytellers' and the crowd is singing along to your songs. It's a blessing."

Maxwell performed a dozen songs during his set, gleamed from his four albums deep catalog, including 'Get to Know You' from 2001's 'Now,' and 'Pretty Wings' from his last album, 2009's 'BLACKsummers'night.' Another song the Brooklyn native performed from the latter is 'Fistful of Tears,' whose impetus he explained to attendees. "This song is inspired by war," Maxwell revealed. "I hate that we're fighting and I can't wait for the troops to come back ... it's also about trying to express to someone who is so beautiful and amazing and yet they just can't see that in themselves."

Maxwell's 'VH1 Storytellers' premiere will be available online thereafter at Storytellers.VH1.com. Coincidentally, both MTV and VH1 are networks owned by Viacom and Maxwell released a live 'MTV Unplugged' EP in 1997.

Maxwell's forthcoming fifth studio album, 'SUMMERS,' does not yet have a release date.
