Max B Implicated By Ex in 2006 Murder

Things aren’t looking so wavy for Max B. The former Dip Set member, who has an album coming out sometime this year, in Neveruary, has just been implicated by a former girlfriend as the mastermind behind a 2006 heist that left one man dead.

According to the authorities, Max’s ex, Gina Conway, was recruited by Max in 2006 to rob two men in a Fort Lee, NJ, Holiday Inn. Max (born Charly Wingate) then recruited cohort, Kelvin Leerdam, to assist Conway in the robbery of the men, who were known for driving ” flashy cars” and carrying “a lot of cash.”

On Sept. 22, Leerdam and Conway ambushed the victims in their room, restraining Allan “Jay” Plowden with duct tape, while awaiting the return of his partner, David Taylor, who was alleged to have $30,000 in his possession. When Taylor arrived, he was immediately shot in the head, execution-style.

After the would-be robbers fled, Plowden was able to alert the front desk that there had been a murder in the hotel. He was then apprehended by police, attempting to take the $30,000 out of the hotel room, where it had been hidden the entire time. Plowden was charged with money laundering and identity theft. One week later Conway, Leerdam and Max B were apprehended and charged with the robbery, but have yet to face trial for Taylor’s murder.

On Thursday, In order to avoid facing trial and a possible life sentence, Conway accepted a deal, implicating Leerdam and Max, while pleading guilty to manslaughter and armed robbery charges. She faces up to 18 years in prison, and awaits her March 21 sentencing.

While it doesn’t appear that Max took part in the actual robbery himself, he and Leerdam have both been charged with murder. Their cases are pending in NJ Superior Court.
