Mateo Is Wistful for the Holidays in ‘Home for Christmas’ Video
What would this season be without a few songs for those who are lonely, lovesick, or homesick during the holidays? Mateo sings his holiday blues on his new song ‘Home for Christmas.’
Mateo is, of course, a professional entertainer and frequent travel comes with job. That’s a perk to some, but it’s a bit of a downer for Mateo since this means he can’t see his family and friends during the holiday season. Cue one of the saddest new Christmas-related lyrics you’ll hear all season: “I’m hoping that heaven will listen / And send me your way on this Christmas / ‘Cause it don’t feel right when you spend it alone.”
He isn’t spending this Christmas alone, however. Mateo travels home and has an emotional embrace with his family. This could be a temporary visit, but you can guess this means a lot to Mateo judging from his longing eyes throughout the JL Brown-directed video. If that’s the case, at least he’s going back on the road with a few extra dollars in his pocket; a bystander is seen donating cash to Mateo as he performs alone in the 42nd Street train station.
