Singer Mary J. Blige has been announced as a confirmed guest on the new album by former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash.

The legendary axeman is currently working on material for his second solo album, and tweeted to reveal that he had finished a song with the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul. "Just finished a session with Mike Clink engineering on a track with Mary J. Blige. Sounds killer!" wrote Slash.

Slash has also logged unlikely collaborations with several other R&B stars, recording several songs with the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, and more recently contributing guitar work on Rihanna's 'Rockstar 101,' from her 2009 album 'Rated.' He also paired up with Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas on 'Beautiful Dangerous,' from his 2010 solo debut 'Slash.'

While Slash finishes up his sophomore release, slated for a spring 2012 debut, Blige is currently hard at work on 'My Life II: The Journey Continues,' the sequel to her 1994 sophomore LP. The album, her 10th, features collaborations with Jermaine Dupri, Pharrell, Swizz Beatz, Rico Love and Nicki Minaj.
