Mary J. Blige, D’Angelo Liberation Tour: Soul Stars Announce Co-Headlining Tour
Mary J. Blige and D'Angelo have announced that they will be co-headlining a series of tour dates around the U.S at the end of the summer.
The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul and the troubled 'Brown Sugar' crooner, who has not released an album since his 2000 classic, Voodoo, will kick off their Liberation tour in Virginia Beach on Aug. 18, making stops in key markets around the country, and finally wrapping things up on Sept. 2 in Houston.
The landmark tour will be D'Angelo's first in well over a decade, following his acclaimed recent performances at the 2012 BET awards and Essence Music Festival.
"I felt like it would be refreshing and fun for people to see him and Mary J. Blige on the road together," Blige told Rolling Stone of the tour.
Melanie Fiona will be the supporting artist on the tour.
While only eight dates have been announced thus far, up to as many as 20 total dates are expected.
