Maroon 5 ‘Payphone': Wiz Khalifa Raps About His Haters on New Song
Wiz Khalifa teams up with Maroon 5 for the band's new track "Payphone," produced by Benny Blanco. The song is the first single from their fourth forthcoming LP, Overexposed, due June 26.
On the effort, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine croons of a romance that is no more. "I've wasted my nights, you've turned out the lights/ Now I'm paralyzed, still stuck in that time/ When we called it love, but even the sun sets in paradise," he sings.
When Wiz serves his verse, his rhymes don't speak of his love life but rather his haters. "I be out spending all this money while you sittin' 'round wondering why it wasn't you who came up from nothin'/ Made it from the bottom now when you see me I'm stuntin'," he raps.
The song's title comes from Levine's line: "I'm at a payphone trying to call home all of my change I spent on you
Maroon 5 is set to perform the song tonight (April 16) on NBC's "The Voice." Wiz will join the group.
