Mark Steele is jumping on the "wave" with his newest single. Steele, a student of superproducer 9th Wonder, was set to put "Wave" on his latest album, Almost Time, but it ultimately didn't make the cut. But he released the track on Dec. 5, hi sbirthday.

"December 5th has become a tradition. It's not only the day I was born, but because it's so close to the year's end it's always the perfect time to reflect," said Steele. "I just so happen to manage my reflections through song. Someone told me the other day, 'you're on a wave right now.' I took it not in the sense of I'm 'the biggest thing out,' but more like I'm so focused in the mindset; that I won't let any obstacles or distractions get the best of me. See you in 2017."

Steele hosted a listening party and a holiday toy drive in his hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina.

Almost Time was released back in October and features Big Pooh, Raheem Devaughn, among others. Stream the 14-track album here and check out "Wave" below.
