Mariah Carey Confirms She’s Pregnant
After months of speculation, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have finally come clean about their pregnancy. Earlier this morning, the 'Today' show aired a portion of a three-part 'Access Hollywood' interview, confirming news that the pair will be expecting their first child in spring 2011.
"Yes we are pregnant, this is true!" she told host Billy Bush in her New York City apartment. "It's been a long journey, but it's been tough because I've been trying to have ... to hold onto a shred of privacy. And that was not easy."
Mariah shared that there's no official birth date for the baby, but that it will be arriving before summer '11. "It's still early, I'm expecting in the spring, I'll say that. I don't want to give too much of like, specific outlines," she explained.
Cannon was also on hand for the interview, popping in to share his excitement about their blessing. "Uh, it's absolutely emotional, but first, so many reasons I mean obviously the greatest gift on earth is a child," Cannon said. "But ... you know how much we have been through, you know."
The couple also addressed rumors of a previous pregnancy, one suspected two years ago but kept secret after Mimi suffered a miscarriage. "Only one person knew about this and we were like, um, 'let's not tell anybody else," said Mariah. "It was really sad so we had to just, we had really to absorb this and take it in."
Nick shared his admiration for his wife and her resilience through the harsh experience. "And that's what I said, like her strength would literally be during the day so festive and smiling obviously for cameras and spending time with everyone and you know, literally that night crying herself to sleep."
The full interview airs tonight on 'Access Hollywood.'
