Mariah Carey Investigated for Child Neglect
Mariah Carey was investigated by Child and Family Services last week, after drinking alcohol to reportedly help with breast feeding.
According to her hubby, Nick Cannon, the uproar was a result of someone looking to make a quick buck. Cannon, who appeared on CNN's 'Piers Morgan Tonight,' Thursday (May 13), explained that his wife was instructed by a nurse to take a sip of Guinness dark beer to stimulate yeast production for breast feeding. "I guess someone maybe overheard that [suggestion], and this is a good way to make a quick buck, or call the tabloids," he said.
In a separate interview, Cannon also confirmed that a social worker approached him in the hospital hallway, stating that they wanted to see him about "allegations that there was drug and alcohol use." According to CNN, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services would not confirm or deny the visit, due to confidentiality rules.
Carey and the twins remain in the hospital while the 40-year-old recovers from a cesarean section. Although the new parents have not yet released photos of the twins, they have run into problems with people trying to snap photos by pretending to be hospital employees. "I don't want to put pictures out there, but then when you think about the fact that, you know, you're going to have photographers and people going to these lengths to get pictures, it gets a little scary. So you have to figure out a way, like, alright, we got to give the public what they want. But then at the same time, you have to do it in a classy way, in a way that doesn't seem like we are out there parading our children out."
After two years of marriage, Cannon and Carey announced that they were expecting last spring. The babies, a girl and a boy, were born April 30, coincidentally, the same day as their three-year anniversary.
