Mariah Carey is getting in the Christmas spirit by directing and starring in Hallmark's A Christmas Melody.

The "We Belong Together" singer has already been dubbed the "Queen of Christmas" after releasing the festive staple "All I Want For Christmas is You" in 1994, so naturally she's a perfect fit for the upcoming holiday film. (Unfortunately, All I Want For Christmas was already taken by another Hallmark movie).

According to a press release, A Christmas Melody will revolve around a recent divorcee and skillful clothing designer, Kristin and her young daughter. She makes a major change in her life by leaving her Manhattan boutique to return to her small hometown in Ohio to live in her parents' former home. But it turns out to be quite an adjustment -- especially when she finds herself at odds with her high school rival Melissa (Carey).

"Melissa is president of the PTA and tries to make Kristen feel as unwelcome as possible. Kristen and Emily struggle to find their new normal with the help of the music teacher, Danny, and Kristin’s Aunt Sarah, the local coffee shop owner," reads the press release.

But it seems that it'll likely finish with a happy ending -- and a big musical number. "With a little holiday magic and music, Kristin and Emily find that home is where the heart is."

Several kids perform Carey's hit Christmas song and the singer herself is all smiles in the trailer. Fans will have to watch A Christmas Melody on Hallmark Dec. 19 to find out what happens.

In the meantime, check out Mariah Carey's Christmas book and concert series, which kicks off on Dec. 8.

Watch the singer put on her acting hate for the holidays above.
