Maino, Bodega Bamz, Troy Ave, Mack Wilds + More Rep New York on ‘Banned From Radio’

Banned From Radio

If you thought New York lost its rap edge, think again. Big Apple rhymers Maino, Bodega Bamz, Chinx Drugz, Troy Ave, Mack Wilds and City Boy Dee are reminding naysayers who can really spit bars on the all-star posse cut ‘Banned From Radio.’

Cipha Sounds and Drewski curated the song, which is produced by Mike Cash and samples N.O.R.E.‘s classic 1998 banger, ‘Banned From TV,’ which featured Big Pun, Cam’ron, Styles P, Nature and Jadakiss.

Maino kicks off the new track, spitting agitated bars to the haters. “Street n—-, speaks for the crooks / Give me feminine looks, cocksucker I’m the king of the Brook / Dressed like I’m in the video / F— the whole radio / F— these other n—-s that don’t ride for the city, tho,” he raps.

Bamz follows with rapid rhymes as he reps Harlem to the fullest. “I do it for the streets / Never do it for the tweets / I’m a corner store n—- / I just rap off the beef,” he spits.

Elsewhere, Troy Ave raps about being a self-made businessman and getting Twitter DMs from Rick Ross. “No contract but I deal / Cocaine, steel s— / real I am ill,” he raps.

Mack Wilds might have the standout verse on the song as he touts his Grammy nomination (for his ‘New York: Love Story’ album) and his good looks. “Guess I’m the most imitated / Grammy-nominated / Hotel-accommodated / Cheerleader prom-dated / I put the city on my back / I’m never overrated,” he spits.

Chinx Drugz and rap newbie City Boy Dee also serve some grimy bars.

Overall, ‘Banned from Radio’ is a great example that New York rappers can come together on a song in a show of unity. Hopefully, this will become a trend.
