Lord Infamous, a member of Three 6 Mafia, passed away Friday (Dec. 20) at his mother’s home in Memphis. He was 40 years old.

HipHopDX talked to DJ Paul’s publicist Dove Clark who confirmed the sad news.

"He did pass away at his mothers house last night in Memphis," he said. "The cause of death is unknown. We're actually trying to figure out how he died and that is all the information we currently have."

Fellow Three 6 member Gangsta Boo also announced the tragic news on Twitter. She tweeted:

Lord Infamous, real name Ricky Dunigan, was one of the original members of Three 6 Mafia. He appeared on the group’s earlier albums and would eventually release his debut solo LP, 'Lord of Terror,' in 1994.

Recently, He and Three 6 Mafia members DJ Paul, Gangsta Boo, Crunchy Black and Koopsta Knicca formed the rap group Da Mafia 6ix and released a mixtape, '6ix Commandments,' in November. Prior to that, Lord Infamous dropped a solo project titled 'Voodoo,' in October.

The BoomBox sends their condolences to Lord Infamous’ family and the entire Three 6 Mafia crew.
