LL Cool J Mourns Death of Father James Nunya

LL Cool J has lost his father, James Nunya. The rapper-actor recently took to Twitter to tell fans of his dad's passing at the age of 65.

"RIP to My Father James Nunya. You passed away ... But The lessons you taught me live on in my heart. Thank you. I love you," he wrote online.

LL later thanked fans for their supportive tweets, writing "I thank you all for your prayers and love. I truly appreciate you."

The "NCIS: Los Angeles" star, born James Todd Smith, didn't specify what took his father's life, according to Contact Music.

People magazine reports LL was raised by his mother Ondrea Smith in Queens, N.Y. She and Nunya divorced when the rapper was only 4 years old.
