Lil Wayne Spits ‘Carter IV’ Verses Over Phone
Lil Wayne is currently doing a one-year bid in a New York prison, but he's using his time there effectively. Hopping on the phone with his protégé Drake last week, Weezy spit two verses through the phone - similar to what he did with the verse that was recorded and used for the remix of Drizzy's 'Light Up.' The long haired emcee on including them on his highly anticipated album, 'Tha Carter IV.'
'He called me the other day from jail and rapped me two verses, man,' Drake told MTV. 'It really made me, like, 'I gotta do something different. I gotta get s--- together,' because he's really got bars and he's rapping from a broader life perspective, saying these things people love to hear.'The public won't have to wait until Wayne gets out of jail to hear new music, though. Before he becomes a free man, his label, Cash Money Records, plans on releasing the 'I'm Not a Human Being' EP in September. And while Drake wasn't aware of the title of the release, he confirmed that he had at least one verse on it.
'I'm on it,' he said of the EP, adding that there will also be a full-length collabo album with his mentor. 'There's no doubt in my mind that people are waiting for that 'I'm Not a Human Being,' that 'Carter IV,' that Wayne and Drake album. All that!'
Twenty-seven-year-old Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr., is currently in his fourth month of his yearlong jail sentence for illegal gun possession. He is currently serving at Rikers Island, and is expected to be released in November.
