Fresh off his whopping first week sales earnings for ‘Tha Carter IV,’ Lil Wayne has scored a phenomenal 18 award nominations for the 2011 BET Hip-Hop Awards.

The 28-year-old New Orleans native nabs nods in categories for Best Live Performer, Lyricist of the Year, Track of the Year and MVP of the Year, among others. His appearance in the visuals for Chris Brown’s track ‘Look At Me Now’ lands a nomination for Best Hip-Hop Video while the first single from ‘Tha Carter IV,’ ’6 Foot 7 Foot,’ welcomes a Best Club Banger mention.

Kanye West accounts for nine awards nominations, with Hustler of the Year, Video Director of the Year and Producer of the Year, just to name a few. Nicki Minaj holds the female rapper spotlight, as she’s the only woman highlighted for her work in the hip-hop spectrum. She lands Lyricist of the Year and MVP of the Year nods. Wiz Khalifa, Busta Rhymes and Jay-Z are more of the acclaimed rappers nominated for awards. Surprisingly, Frank Ocean, who appears on Hov and West’s ‘Watch the Throne’ LP, is in the running for awards as well, though he’s known as a singer and not a hip-hop artist.

The 2011 BET Awards, hosted by actor and comedian Mike Epps, will be taped at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center in Atlanta on Oct. 1 and air Oct. 11 at 8PM on BET.
