Lil Wayne Preps Albums With Juelz Santana, Young Money
Though Lil Wayne just released the year's most highly anticipated album, with 'Tha Carter IV,' he's already on to the next one, or two.
In a recent interview with XXL, Cash Money president Mack Maine revealed that Weezy's already begun mapping out a plan for his crew's second album, but first he's finishing up some old business -- his long-delayed collaboration album with Juelz Santana.
"The next project he's working on is 'I Can't Feel My Face' with [Juelz Santana]," Maine told XXL. "Elz is talented man. He's a young legend. [Wayne's] back working in the studio. He has that and the 'Young Money' album."
Wayne and Juelz began working on their 'I Can't Feel My Face' project five years ago, producing a grip of mixtape fodder, but an official album never materialized, due to "politics," as Juelz explained in a 2010 interview about the release.
"The industry is a very political business," Juelz told VladTV, while Wayne was still incarcerated. "You know, when you're dealing with politics, a lot goes on. If you look, T-Pain and Lil Wayne's album didn't come out. T-Wayne. So, it was nothing between me and Wayne. Wayne is my brother, shout-out to Weezy, Free Weezy all day."
While Wayne and Juelz are finally moving forward with their album, Weezy has also begun plotting out Young Money's second group LP, which is expected to eclipse their gold-selling 2009 debut, 'We Are Young Money,' due to the heightened profiles of group members-labelmates Drake and Nicki Minaj.
"We haven't actually recorded one verse for that album," Mack said, explaining that Young Money plans to organize a group session after Wayne's extended I Am Still Music tour concludes. "When we were on tour, we said we're gonna wait until we get back to Miami to get everybody out there. We have one more show in Hawaii [on Sept. 24] then we'll start recording. It won't take long. Too much creativity for it to take a long time."
While the Juelz and Young Money projects have yet to receive release dates, Lil Wayne's 'Tha Carter IV' is in stores now.
