It seems like everyone wants to compare themselves to the late and great Tupac Shakur. From Troy Ave (NuPac mixtape) to Boosie Badazz, the late rapper is still an inspiration 21 years after his death. Recently, Lil Durk declared Future as this generation’s 2Pac.

On Saturday (April 20), the Chicago rapper went on his Twitter account and announced, “[Future] you the Modern day #2pac for the world.” We don’t know what prompted Durk to salute the Atlanta rapper as a contemporary ‘Pac but fans were quick to question his proclamation.

"Durk what kind of drug you took today?" asked one fan on Twitter. Another person tweeted, "[Kendrick Lamar] is 'Pac. [J. Cole] is Nas. And [Rick Ross] is Biggie."

To his credit, Future is certainly one of the most accomplished rapper in the game. He’s currently the first artist to have back-to-back No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 chart with Future and HNDRXX. His latest single, “Mask Off,” has become a chart-topping hit and a viral meme.

Future is also selling out venues on his Nobody Safe Tour. While he may not be as iconic as the late 2Pac, he’s certainly headed in that direction.
