Louisiana rapper Lil Boosie knows lean is deadly considering he almost died from drinking the popular codeine-based drink loved by the rap community.

The 31-year-old, who's clearly rap's "it guy" right now, tells TMZ that lean messed up hip-hop culture as a whole, and he's thrilled the company Actavis will be pulling its cough syrup from store shelves.

Lean has "f---ed up a lot of rappers and the culture of hip-hop," the 'Pray For Me' rhymer said. He feels so strongly about the drink being a bad thing because he was addicted to it for many years (he admits he almost died four times as a result) and he even tried to sneak some into jail during his stay.

Boosie also reveals he's been drug-free for the past several years. When he spoke to the folks at Hot 97's 'The Morning Show,' he said drugs, specifically marijuana, are what got him locked up for two years.

Additionally, the rapper says Baton Rouge police wanted to make an example out of him. "Baton Rouge is small, so when somebody like me blowup, who they used to chase around the neighborhood, who was a wild little kid, that affects people," he shares. "I'm making music that they don't like. You know, I'm living at home, driving a Bentley and things like that a lot of people don't like, and I think that made me a target."

Take a look as Lil Boosie speaks about inventing the term "rachet" and how he was embarrassed by his daughter using the N-word in that now infamous YouTube video.
