'Law & Order: SVU' is one TV show that stays on top of current events, including hot topics in the series' story lines. In tonight's episode (Oct. 1), the show tackles two of this year's big elevator scandals.

'American Disgrace,' the episode title, follows the story of Shakir "The Shark" Wilkins, a star basketball player who's accused of raping a public relations employee from his clothing line. In part of the clip, surveillance footage from an elevator is shown similar to what that we've seen in both Solange and Jay Z's incident in May as well as more recently with Ray Rice's domestic violence assault on his wife.

Shakir, his team and Carla, the accuser, are all seen in the elevator where things seem fine until he touches the girl's arm. The gesture angers Carla to a point where she starts hitting him until Shakir's security grabs her. Sound familiar?

Just like the footage that showed Beyonce, Jay Z and Solange in the hotel elevator, no audio is heard in the 'Law & Order' clip. Including a similar elevator scene plays on the fact of just how crazy celebrity scandals can get when the rumors start spreading and the public doesn't know what's really going on.

This isn't the first time that the series tapped into the hip-hop headlines. The show previously filmed an episode inspired by Chris Brown and Rihanna's domestic violence case.

You can catch the episode tonight (Oct. 1) at 9PM on NBC.
