It's always a beautiful thing when artists pay homage to the greats. With jazz singer Nina Simone's documentary What Happened, Miss Simone? set to hit Netflix next week, fans will appreciate knowing that a slew of marquee artists paid homage to Simone by conducting covers in her honor. Now we receive the first cover from Lauryn Hill.

Hill, who played an integral part in shaping the compilation of covers with Robert Glasper for Nina Simone's documentary, took on the daunting task of revisiting the icon's record "Feeling Good."

"Because I fed on this music, both hers and lovers like her, like my basic food, I believed I always had a right to have a voice," Hill says regarding the project. "Her example is clearly a form of sustenance to a generation needing to find theirs. What a gift."

According to Rolling Stone, Hill was originally enlisted to record a few songs in honor of Simone. But, because she was so galvanized by the entire ambiance of the recording process, she elected to work side-by-side with Glasper as a producer. During that time, she managed to record half a dozen covers. They will all appear on the compilation album, which means more new music from L. Boogie.

The compilation LP, Nina Revisited: A Tribute to Nina Simone, will be out July 11 and will feature the likes of Usher, Common, Mary J Blige, and of course, Ms. Hill. Check out the track list for the effort below.

What Happened, Miss Simone? will premiere on Netflix on June 26.
