L.A. Reid Considering a Biopic Based on His Book ‘Sing To Me’
L.A. Reid may be ready to bring his life story to the big screen.
The veteran music executive, released his autobiography, Sing to Me, earlier this year. Now, he's thinking about turning it into a biopic of his life. The book reveals details about Reid's experiences in the music industry and with superstars.
"I wrote the book, [but] it’s up to someone else to tell the story on film," Reid told Variety while on the Epic Fest red carpet on Saturday (June 25).
Reid is responsible for taking talented artists and guiding them to major commercial success -- often multi-platinum sales numbers and superstar visibility. Bobby Brown, Johnny Gill, Boyz II Men, OutKast, Toni Braxton, TLC, Mariah Carey, Paula Abdul, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Kanye West, Usher, Ne-Yo, Young Jeezy, Ciara, Fifth Harmony and Jidenna have all been under Reid's wing at some point during the height of their careers.
Biopics have become big business lately after the massive success of N.W.A.'s Straight Outta Compton last year. On television, there have also been small screen projects like CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story and Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B. 2Pac is the subject of the forthcoming All Eyez On Me.
