After months of speculation, 'The X Factor' panelist and music industry vet Antonio "L.A." Reid has been officially named chairman and CEO of Epic Records.

Reid previously served as chairman of Island Def Jam, and has been responsible for cultivating the careers of artists like Kanye West, OutKast, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, Ciara and many more, while running Arista and LaFace Records.

"I look forward with great enthusiasm to joining the Sony Music family as it affords us the opportunity to build Epic Recordings as the revolutionary music company of tomorrow," Reid said of his new stint with the label. "We are deeply committed to discovering and developing the next generation of superstars as well as implementing a fresh and innovative business model. It is also my distinct pleasure to be once again joining Doug [Morris] who is an amazing leader and the most visionary and forward-thinking executive in the music entertainment industry."

According to Reid, his attempt to rebuild Epic Records will not affect his role as judge on Simon Cowell's new music competition show 'The X Factor.'
