Kodak Black Sentenced to 120 Days in Jail on Marijuana Charges

Kodak Black was sentenced to 120 days in county jail yesterday (Sept. 19) after pleading no contest to two misdemeanor drug charges—holding less than 20 grams of marijuana,and a misdemeanor charge of use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

However, Kodak Black (real name Dieuson Octave) won't spend all 120 days behind bars because he was given credit for the time he's already spent in jail, reports The Sun-Sentinel. His lawyer said that given the county where he was charged, the sentence was bearable.

"At the end of the day, for St. Lucie County, I think he did well," said his attorney, James Regan, according to the Sentinel.

The 19 year-old's driver's license has also been suspended for a year. Although this charge has been dealt with, the rapper, who is signed to Atlantic Records and has garnered a support since going to jail, still faces a charge of criminal sexual conduct in South Carolina, after being accused of committing sexual battery at a hotel in Florence around the time he played a show at a club there earlier this year. If convicted, the crime carries a punishment of up to 30 years in prison.

The rapper's legal issues began before the charges in St. Lucie County, however. Kodak spent several months in jail on unrelated charges in Broward County. The charges included robbery, false imprisonment, fleeing law enforcement and possession of a firearm by a delinquent. Those charges carried a maximum of 55 years, but Kodak was given a plea deal back in August and was sentenced to a year of house arrest and five years of probation.

On the music tip, Kodak is still planning to push forward. Back in June, he released his mixtape Lil B.I.G. Pac and was featured on DJ Khaled's Major Key. He's reportedly working on a solo album due out this winter.
