Is Kim Kardashian becoming a social justice warrior? According to TMZ, the celebutante hired attorney Shawn Holley to represent a 62-year-old grandmother who was sentenced to life in prison as a first-time, nonviolent offender.

For those who don’t know about the case, Alice Marie Johnson was arrested in 1993 for being involved in a cocaine-distribution ring. Although she admitted that she was part of the ring, she only distributed messages from one dealer to another. In 1997, a judge sentenced Johnson to life in prison.

Johnson reportedly wrote a letter to Kardashian thanking her for the legal support and bringing awareness to her case. She wrote, "Ms. Kardashian you are literally helping to save my life and restore me to my family. I was drowning and you have thrown me a life jacket and given me hope."

Johnson also believes that Kardashian's campaign will be a defining moment in history, and will show she was a "key figure in meaningful criminal justice reform becoming a reality."

Johnson ended the missive with "THE BATTLE IS ON!"

In addition to helping Johnson, Kardashian has also hired Holley to assist in Cyntoia Brown's much-publicized legal case as well.

"The system has failed. It’s heart breaking to see a young girl sex trafficked then when she has the courage to fight back is jailed for life! We have to do better & do what’s right. I’ve called my attorneys yesterday to see what can be done to fix this. #FreeCyntoiaBrown," tweeted Kardashian on November 21.

Salute to Kim Kardashian for putting her money where her mouth is.
