Killer Mike Remembers Fred Hampton on 48th Anniversary of His Death [PHOTO]

Today (Dec. 4) marks the 48th anniversary of the death of Black Panther Party leader Fred Hampton. Rapper Killer Mike went on his Instagram page to remember the civil rights activist and the legacy he left behind.

"Never Forget. Never Forgive. Never," Mike wrote in the caption of a photo of Fred Hampton. "This is why Jeff sessions and the Govt Targeting “black identity extremist” is dangerous! [I] personally believe that kind of policy is a set up to murder more young blacks that like Hampton can lead us and ally with others to #KillOurMasters and the wicked system of Class and Race based isms!"

For those who are unfamiliar with Fred Hampton, on Dec. 4, 1969, Chicago police raided Hampton's apartment and shot and killed him in his bed. He was only 21-years-old. Fellow BPP leader Mark Clark was also killed in the raid.

While police claimed that the two men opened fire on them, it was later revealed that the FBI, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, and the Chicago police conspired to assassinate Fred Hampton.

On Twitter, folks also remembered Hampton for his courage and leadership in the black community.

"Thinking about Fred Hampton gives me such optimism about young people in social movements," tweeted one person. "In a day with no social media or internet, a 21 y/o made America so afraid of his influence and intellect that the government had him killed. Never discredit your power. Use it for good."

Another user tweeted, "Police killed Chairman Fred Hampton 48 years ago, today. "You can kill the revolutionary but you can't kill the revolution."
