Besides creating catchy tracks, rappers have a penchant for sitting under a tattoo gun. The latest rhymer to get inked with permanent art is Ohio native and former 'How to Make It in America' actor Kid Cudi.

The G.O.O.D. Music signee, who's gearing up to release his third studio album, 'WZRD,' looked to rockers Pink Floyd for inspiration for his new tattoo. The 27-year-old performer revealed the artwork Monday (Jan. 16) on his blog. In the photo, Cudi poses with his right hand held close to the camera, showing off a colored ink tattoo that reads "Pink."

For his new LP, the rapper is moving towards a sound with a rock edge. Bands like Pink Floyd, known for albums like 'Animals' and 'The Dark Side of the Moon,' are an indication of where he's drawing his influence from and his body art proves he's a rhymer with well-rounded inspirations.

'WZRD,' set for release Jan. 30, will feature production from Dot da Genius.

Last month, Kid Cudi made headlines regarding the death of a young rap fan named Ben Breedlove. The 18-year-old suffered from a heart condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), which he fell victim to on Dec. 25, 2011. Before his death, Breedlove created a two-part video series sharing his near-death experiences with HCM. In the videos, he recalled seeing his "fav rapper" Cudi in a vision. As a result the 'Man on the Moon: The End of Day' creator admitted he was brought to tears by the touching story.
