Kid Cudi has always embraced being an outcast in the rap game and expressing his feelings is not something he's afraid to do.

The Cleveland rapper recently spoke to Billboard about tweets that had him in headlines last year, where he wrote about the rap game being "mediocre" these days. Because he happened to write them around the same time Future and Drake dropped their record What A Time to Be Alive, folks thought he was throwing a jab. He cleared up that he was not thinking about the hip-hop pair and was just venting about the genre in general.

"I’m appalled any of y’all think I even sat down and listened to that s---. (Laughs.) I wasn’t talking about that at all! But if the shoe fits...," he told the music magazine.

"N----s are so guilty that they know it’s them. I didn’t even know they had a project," he added. "I tweeted that, put my phone down and walked away. Next time I pick it up, I’m in the news! They say I’m ranting; a rant means you care. I don’t care like that."

In the meantime, Cudi who has always been anti-industry seems to be in greater spirits following his struggles with depression and overcoming drug use. He is writing movie scripts and working on new music, but hasn't promised when he will release it. He said he will soon be done with music altogether.

"I'm about to show n----s what’s nice. And then I’m retiring," he said. The rapper hasn't been completely silent, as he put out two new tracks in the last month, "Frequency" and "All In," keeping his fans somewhat satisfied.

The Cudder who hasn't worked much with many of his peers recently said he was happy to reconnect with Kanye West on TLOP, laying vocals on "Father Stretch My Hands" and "Waves."

"Whatever we were dealing with, it was a beautiful thing to clear the air about. I’m really happy to be back working with my friends."

Kid Cudi recently announced that he’s dropping a new album, tentatively titled Man on the Moon III, this summer. This will be the follow-up to his 2015 album, Speedin’ Bullet 2 Heaven.
