Khuli Chana Shot by Police, Rapper to Press Charges Over Mistaken Identity
South African rap artist Khuli Chana plans to press charges against police for attempted murder after he was shot in Johannesburg due to a case of mistaken identity.
Two plainclothes officers were searching for a kidnapper when they mistakenly shot at Chana six times while he was in the passenger seat of a car, hitting him twice. Chana was on his way to meet up with a DJ in preparation for a gig at the time.
Chana’s manager, Refiloe Ramogase, says the officers offered no warning before they fired the shots and were aiming to kill. He says three bullets penetrated the driver’s window. A picture posted on Twitter shows the aftermath of the shooting.
