Remember when Kevin Gates kicked a female fan in the chest at one of shows? Well, the New Orleans rhymer says he was acting in self-defense.

According to TMZ, Gates filed court papers in response to the woman, Miranda Dixon, who is suing the 30-year-old rapper for the assault. The "I Don't Get Tired" rhymer claims in his suit that the 18-year-old fan continuously grabbed his shorts, which caused him to think that he might fall off the stage. Although he verbally warned Dixon once before the kick, the second time didn't go too well.

The incident went down last August in Lakeland, Fla., so Gates is using the state's controversial Stand Your Ground law as his defense in the case. In other words, he had no other choice but to kick her in the chest. It's still unknown whether or not the judge will accept Gates's reasoning.

In the meantime, Gates is heading back to the Sunshine State to kick off his Isiah tour in Jacksonville, FL. The 23-city tour will take Gates throughout North America before he finishes overseas in the Netherlands.

We just hope the New Orleans rapper doesn't kick anyone in his new tour.
