Watch Kendrick Lamar & More Tear Up the Stage at 2014 iTunes Festival
After having more of a rock night on Tuesday (March 11), the iTunes Festival brought hip-hop to the masses on Wednesday evening (March 12) with Isaiah Rashad, Schoolboy Q and Kendrick Lamar, the night's headliner.
Although Kendrick is not one for pyro and frills, things got a bit dramatic as the rapper entered the stage. With just a DJ to one side and a projector showcasing various images and films to go along with each song, the 'good kid, m.A.A.d city' creator knew that he could entrance the crowd with nothing but a mic and his words.
He delivered stellar performances of 'Backseat Freestyle,' 'Cartoons and Cereal,' 'The Art of Peer Pressure' and 'm.A.A.d. City.' Fellow Black Hippy MC Jay Rock joined Kendrick on 'Money Trees' and he returned the favor on his own 'Hood Gone Love It.'
Jay Rock wasn't the only guest that night. MC and soul singer SZA provided the melodic vocals on 'Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe' and 'Poetic Justice.' While it was clearly a great set that lasted more than an hour, Schoolboy Q didn't join Kendrick onstage for a live collaboration.
Either way, it was a show that shouldn't be missed.
