Any freestyle from Kendrick Lamar is worth a second look or listen. But when he's at Hot 97 FM in New York City to spit on Funkmaster Flex's show -- where legends are made -- it's a pretty big deal.

The Compton-bred rapper goes in over some classic instrumental tracks -- Prodigy's "Keep It Thoro," Nas' "Nas Is Like," and Wu-Tang Clan's "Wu-Tang Clan Ain't Nuthing ta Fuck Wit." Produced by Alchemist, DJ Premier and Rza, respectively.

Which got us wondering if maybe Kendrick might want to enlist some of those guys -- or any classic producer not named Dr. Dre -- to work on his next project.

We love the production on good kid, m.A.A.d city, but it can certainly be ascertained from hearing him on beats like this that he's got a knack for spitting over sample-heavy boom bap tracks. Just a thought. But if he goes ahead and does it, we want our co-production credits! Just joking. Well, sort of.
