While we're used to seeing Kendrick Lamar dressed in jeans, T-shirts and hoodies, the Compton rapper got suited up for the latest issue of GQ. Named one of this year's GQ Men of the Year, it's only fitting that he had to get a little fancy while gracing the cover.

Reminiscent of what legends like Sammy Davis, Jr., and Ray Charles wore back in the day, GQ just released a video to show us the other great looks Lamar donned for the photo shoot. The 'good kid, m.A.A.d city' creator showed everyone why the publication named him "Rapper of the Year" by throwing down a freestyle while a style team got him ready for the shoot. The combination of the rhyming and black-and-white visual elevates this typical behind-the-scenes clip into more of a music video.

Aside from looking all suave in front of the camera, Lamar sat down with the magazine to talk about how his life has been in the spotlight. The in-depth piece shows various sides of the rhymer. He also talks about other run-ins with big names in hip-hop including a vision he had of Tupac.

Check out his words in the latest issue of GQ, out now, or online at GQ.com.
