Kendrick Lamar, Usher and Rihanna are among the heavy-hitters scheduled to appear at the fifth annual Global Citizen Festival on September 24 in Central Park.

Global Citizen is a free concert aim to encourage social action by attendees. Basically, festival goers have a chance to win tickets by "taking action to help solve the world's biggest challenges," according to the site. Fans can choose from a range of actions that earn them points and once enough points are earned, they can enter to draw for the festival tickets. A new campaign with a different social challenge is launched every two weeks.

The tasks start out relatively easily. For step 1, "global citizens" must activate their Twitter thumbs and send a tweet to the UN Secretary General to support the Education Commission’s findings, send a tweet to foreign ministers demanding their leadership on education, or sign the petition to support education for adolescent girls among other tasks. Level two tasks get a bit more demanding, including tweet a video of yourself demanding the Tanzanian Parliament ends child marriage and signing the petition and calling US leaders asking them to support a funding increase for education, among other things. The third level requires a trip to the library—asking fans to take a photo of yourself at a library or bookstore to send a message to the Education Commission.

The tasks are pretty simple to accomplish, and the payoff is more than a warm and fuzzy feeling for knowing you did the right thing— it's the opportunity to rock with some of the biggest names in music. This year's festival lineup is stacked. In addition to K.Dot and Ri-Ri, Metallica, Selena Gomez and Chris Martin are also on the bill, in effort to make sure there's a little something for everyone, no doubt.

Visit the Global Citizen website for more information about how to earn tickets.
