Kem ‘You’re on My Mind’ Behind-the-Scenes Video: Goapele, Anthony Anderson Praise Singer
Crooner Kem gives a behind-the-scenes look at the making of his recent video, "You're on My Mind." The visuals for the song, which appears on the Nashville Tenn., native's new album Intimacy: Album III, showcase fellow singer Goapele and comedians Anthony Anderson and Bruce Bruce.
"We had a lot of fun during the making of this video," Kem tells The BoomBox of the Erica D. Hayes-directed effort. ""'You're on My Mind' is the last single off of the Intimacy album, so I feel like we're leaving a lasting impression. The premise [of the video] is that my friends, Anthony Anderson and Bruce Bruce, have come to my house to help me get my mind off a woman who I've recently ended a relationship with."
That woman is played by Goapele, who shares how she and Kem first met in the behind-the-scenes clip.
"I'm so appreciative to my friends for their participation in this video," Kem shares. "Goapele is a beautiful woman. We've performed together over the years -- we performed at the Soul Train Music Awards and at the Essence Festival together. I respect her artistry, and she was a gift to this production. Her talent is a gift to the world."
"As for Bruce Bruce and Anthony Anderson, having them participate in this video was a blessing, and it was a lot of fun," he continues. "I actually had the pleasure of singing at Bruce Bruce's wedding not too long ago, and Anthony is seriously funny. I know the outtakes are hilarious."
Kem's Intimacy: Album III debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 74,000 copies in its first week of release.
