Kelly Rowland Announces Title of Third Album
Kelly Rowland and Beyonce may have a bit of a friendly rivalry on their hands. One day after Beyonce announced the title of her forthcoming project, Rowland has followed suit, revealing that her new album will be titled 'Here I Am.'
The singer, whose current single, 'Motivation' featuring Lil Wayne, has been heating up the charts, stated that the title of her third solo album is a re-introduction of sorts. "I was talking to my product manager," Rowland told Billboard. "I said I wanted people to know that this is the record, the sound I have been working toward ... that here I am. And she said, that's the title. It just connected with my heart and the music as well. It stands for everything I've gone through and thought about for this record as a woman. It's very strong."
Over the past few years, the 30-year-old has experienced a few career and financial shake-ups. After splitting from longtime manager, and Beyonce's father, Mathew Knowles, the Texas native looked into new job opportunities, which included a stint as co-host of Bravo's 'The Fashion Show,' before being replaced by model Iman. Her money problems were also brought to light late last year when word came out that the Grammy winner owed the government nearly $100,000 in unpaid taxes.
While she has not publicly spoke about the state of her finances, her career remains at the forefront of her priorities. Rowland's latest album is slated for a fall release, and will feature production from the likes of Rodney Jerkins, Stargate and Tricky Stewart, and writing credits from the likes of Rico Love, who wrote 'Motivation.'
