The 2015 Super Bowl Halftime Show will go down in history as the one where Missy Elliott stole the show from Katy Perry.

The pop superstar's performance boasts plenty of theatrics, including a mechanical lion and digital effects. Perry ran through her chart-topping hits like 'Roar,' 'Dark Horse' and 'California Gurls' (sadly, Juicy J and Snoop Dogg were not there to perform). Rocker Lenny Kravitz later joined Perry for a rendition of 'I Kissed a Girl,' which is a surprise considering the song's provocative content.

Meanwhile, Missy Elliott, who has been on a rap hiatus since the millennium, made a surprise appearance at the event. The veteran rhymer performed a three-song medley -- 'Get Ur Freak On,' 'Work It' and 'Lose Control' -- with Perry as her hype girl.

By the time Perry closed out her show with the anthemic 'Firework,' the talk on social media had shifted to how Elliott was still one of the best live performers in the game.

Hopefully, this means we'll see more of Missy E. this year. But for now, take solace in how Anderson Cooper is a big fan.
