Kanye West kicked off a two-night solo run at the Revel Resort in Atlantic City, N.J., last night (July 6), and as the Star-Ledger reports, Yeezy unleashed an over-the-top three-act hip-hop circus. He danced with ballerinas, rapped with Pusha T, ruminated on sexual frustration and even sang a version of Phil Collins' "In the Air Tonight."

"It was all on display Friday night at Revel -- the arrogance, the inventiveness, the pride in his artistry, the occasional lapses in command, the willingness to take risks, the genuine love of hip-hop, the just-as-genuine desire to transcend hip-hop, the silly business, the reach for high art while wallowing in the gutter, the eternal desire to write curses in cursive," wrote Star-Ledger critic Tris McCall, summing up the beguiling phenomenon that is 'Ye as well as anyone might.

Offering a bit of cogent self-analysis, West included in his second run-through of "Cold" -- one of the more than two-dozen songs he offered up during the marathon performance -- a statement that reads like both a boast and an apology.

"As a man, I'm not perfect," he said, according to MTV.com. "But my music is."
