Dipset rapper Juelz Santana has admitted in court that he tried to get a loaded gun onto a plane at the Newark Liberty International Airport earlier this year.

Page Six reports, Santana, whose legal name is LaRon Louis James, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and carrying a weapon on an aircraft on Thursday (. The Totowa, New Jersey resident faces up to 20 years in prison (10 years on each charge) when sentenced on December 12.

According to Port Authority Police, Santana was attempting to board a flight in Newark back in March when Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents found a loaded .38-caliber handgun and non-prescription oxycodone pills in a carry-on bag containing his identification.

After leaving the area without his bags and identification, Santana turned himself into authorities three days later.

The “There It Go (The Whistle Song)” rapper was banned from possessing firearms due to 2012 conviction in Bergen County for manufacturing and distributing a controlled dangerous substance.

Before his guilty plea on Thursday, Santana was free on electronic monitoring with travel restrictions after posting a $500,000 bond on April 6.

In June, a judge modified his bail so that he could perform concerts in New Hampshire, Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina. As part of his modified bond, Santana’s mother was ordered to chaperone him on the trips, and he was banned from flying. He was also prohibited Santana from travelling with other Dipset members of the tour.

While on bail, Santana also was allowed by the court to film for VH1's Love and Hip Hop, where he's been a reoccurring cast member along with on-again, off-again girlfriend, Kimbella Vanderhee. Santana’s third studio album Born to Lose, Built to Win (Diplomat Records/Def Jam) is expected sometime this year.

After pleading guilty, the judge postponed Santana’s original trial date of September 4, so the rapper and his attorneys could continue negotiations on a plea deal.
