Josh Baze is two months away from releasing his debut album, 'Hi-Heels & Low-Lifes,' but already, he's challenging fans' perceptions. Lest anyone hear the single 'We Made It' and think the rising Brooklyn rhymer is only dropping celebratory verses over triumphant soul backings, the MC has released a cover of dance superstar DeadMau5's popular 'Ghosts 'n' Stuff.'

Available here for free download, the track is meant to showcase a different side of the rapper, who grew up idolizing Biggie Smalls and Jay-Z. His interest in different styles of music perhaps is perhaps not surprising, since his father worked as a DJ, and he grew up surrounded by records.

Speaking with The BoomBox last year, the up-and-comer said his full-length debut -- produced by Griffin Guess and available March 20 exclusively via iTunes -- would offer something for everyone.

"There are different sounds and different feels throughout the entire album so I can't wait for people to hear it all," he said. "It's like a variety pack of food -- you're getting everything, from club tracks to emotional tracks."

The Hype Williams-directed video for 'We Made It,' his first official single, which was shot in 2011, airs next week on MTVu's Freshmen 5, MTV Jams and MTV2. For updates on the rapper's career, check out his site here.
