John Legend’s soulful voice has serenaded us for over a decade, and now it’s coming to Google Assistant.

On Tuesday (May 8), at its I/O developer conference, Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced that Legend is among the six new voices coming to Google Assistant.

Legend didn't have to stay in the studio and record every response to thousands of questions a user might ask. Instead, his voice was created using WaveNet, a program that analyzes speech patterns and uses raw audio to generate speech patterns that copy typical human elocution. With Wavenet, Google could potentially hire other celebrities to voice your Google Assistant.

Pichai played a video of Legend in the studio recording his responses. In the clip, Legend answered the question asking where he lives by saying, "You can find me on all kinds of devices: phones, Google Homes and, if I'm lucky, in your heart."

John Legend's voice and other Google Assistant voices will roll out later this year.

Legend's wife, Chrissy Teigen, is really excited about getting her new Google Assistant.

"I don't even need human John anymore," she jokingly tweeted. To which Legend replied, "Well. The Google Assistant doesn't do EVERYTHING."
