John Legend has signed on to perform the National Anthem in Game 1 of World Series, between the San Francisco Giants and the Texas Rangers Wednesday (Oct. 27). The Ohio native broke the news via his Twitter page Tuesday (Oct. 26), coinciding with an official announcement from Major League Baseball.

"Watch Game 1 of the World Series tomorrow. I'll be singing the National Anthem," he wrote to his more than two million followers.

Legend will join the ranks of country superstars Lady Antebellum who are billed to sing 'The Star Spangled Banner,' for Game 2 on Thursday (Oct. 28). Texas native Kelly Clarkson will sing the anthem at Game 3 as the series heads to Arlington, Texas.

San Francisco will host the American League Champions for the first two games of the series at AT&T Park, before moving over to Texas for Game 3. For the second year in a row series games will have earlier start times in hopes of attracting younger viewers. The 2010 World Series kicks off at 7:30 PM on FOX.

Legend released his collaborative album with the Roots, 'Wake Up!,' this past September. Check out footage from their AOL Sessions taping below.
