Jimmy Henchman Seeking Retrial in Drug Trafficking Case

Former rap mogul James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond is ready for a retrial in his drug trafficking case after discovering some new information.

According to Rosemond's camp, the government's star witness, Henry Butler, may have been coerced into crafting a testimony in the prosecution's favor. Butler, who is also the brother-in-law to Lee Daniels, the creator of Empire, received a reduced sentence in exchange for the testimony, according to Rosemond. And it was all to lead to his ensured conviction of the "drug kingpin" who formerly worked as the manager for the Game and Gucci Mane.

“The government and its prosecutor, now state senate candidate, Todd Kaminsky, used underhanded and unethical methods against me to secure my guilty verdict," said Rosemond in a statement to HipHopWired.com. "I have lost everything. All the money I made as a legitimate music industry businessman, and now my freedom. I feel that I was prosecuted to the extent to which I was, in large measure, because of my role in the Hip Hop industry and the ability of the government to gain so much notoriety on my case.”

The 51-year-old music executive is serving multiple life sentences after being convicted in 2012 and 2013 on drug trafficking and murder-for-hire charges. Rosemond is also rumored to be involved in the death of Tupac Shakur.
