Jim Jones Teams With Aaron LaCrate for ‘Everybody Jones’
Jim Jones surprised his legion of loyal supporters when he drifted to the left with the sounds of 'Perfect Day,' a track far removed from what he was known to bring to the table working alongside Dipset members Cam'ron, Juelz Santana and Freekey Zekey.
However, change is good and that's just what the Harlem-bred rapper is showcasing on his fifth studio album, 'Capo.' Besides the Logic-produced 'Perfect Day,' Jones is featuring another song on the effort that may come as a surprise for who's behind the beat.
The Diplomats member jumped in the studio with producer and DJ Aaron LaCrate, who joined forces with fellow producer Samir to create the beat for 'Everybody Jones.' The track is a bass-heavy banger that sees Capo flaunting his assets, rapping, "I'm in the club with a $2,000 leather/ And they say birds of a feather flock together," and "I got more kicks than Jack Chan/ And the face in my watch look like black sand."
LaCrate, best known for moving Baltimore club music to the masses, tapped Jones for the song, which has become the "Milkcrate anthem," representing Milkcrate Athletics -- a clothing company he formed to combine music and fashion, creating custom T-shirts and designs for the likes of Jay-Z, Lily Allen and Mark Ronson, among others.
"There is a reason Jim Jones is called the CAPO, because he's always on point, especially creatively," said LaCrate. "He's an iconoclast and visionary. He saw the relevance in my brand, Milkcrate Athletics, and we built a great song from there, and Vampire Life is also really real, because Jim is going 24/7, were just a couple of great American hustlers, that make great music.. I learned a lot from working with him, and look for the official Jim Jones x Milkcrate x Aaron LaCrate T-shirt out soon!"
Jones' album, 'Capo,' released on April 5, and he currently stars on the VH1 reality show 'Love & Hip-Hop,' which airs on Monday nights.
