The always-elegant Jhené Aiko sat down with Rap-Up recently to clue fans in to her upcoming projects. The L.A. songstress explained that, after recording over 20 songs for her upcoming debut album, 'Souled Out,' she decided to compile the leftover material into a precursor EP entitled 'Sail Out.'

"Instead of trying to figure out what we want to put on the album, I came up with releasing an EP in between now and the album release, and it's going to be called 'Sail Out,'" she said. "It's like bridging the gap between 'Selling Souls' and 'Souled Out.'"

Ms. Aiko reveals that 'Sail Out' will have a heavy hip-hop influence, with Wiz Khalifa, Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul and Big Sean all guesting. Even Jhené's rapping alter ego, whom she calls J. Hennessy after her favorite alcoholic drink, will make an appearance.

"I literally feel, throughout the day, I go through about 12 different personalities in my head," said Jhené. "So one of them is J. Hennessy, and she’s an aspiring rapper. She still sings, but she’s more aggressive. She likes to really talk a lot of shit and talk about things that a lot of R&B singers don’t talk about."
