When it comes to love, leave it to your favorite artist to play the soundtrack for your life. If you're smitten with someone, there’s a song for that; if you're single and just want to have fun, surely there are endless hits to turn to; and most certainly, if you're going through a breakup there are tons of ballads dedicated to bashing your ex as well.

Philadelphia native Jazmine Sullivan knows all about the ups and downs of relationships and laying it all out there through song. Her third album, ‘Reality Show,’ outlines the many facets of love through tracks like 'Brand New' and 'Dumb.'

In honor of Valentine’s Day, we asked the newly-single entertainer to offer some advice for the ladies who might be dodging cupid’s arrow this holiday. Whatever stage your love life is in, check out Jazmine Sullivan’s Single Ladies' Guide to Valentine’s Day Do’s and Don’ts.

    Do: Focus on You

“I would say do focus on yourself and your own personal journal. When [your relationship is] over, take that time out to take care of the things that you need to do so that you can be a healthier person.”

Don’t: Take Out Your Frustrations on Social Media

“Don’t go on social media -- Twitter or Instagram -- and vent. Whatever you are experiencing at the time, keep it to yourself. You don’t want to put it all out there on social media because you do not want that kind of stuff to come back and bite you in the butt.”

Do: Surround Yourself With Good People

“Whether it is your family or your homegirls. You need support from positive people in your life. For me, it was family and God.”

Do: Find Other Ways to Vent

“If you want to let any anger out, write a song about it or just write it out. Nobody is going to hear it, but getting it out lends itself to your own personal growth. Read it and take time out to make sure you learned all the lessons from the relationship you need to [in order to] move on.”

    Don’t: Go Without Batteries

“It’s a must to always keep batteries for your vibrators, ladies. You know, so you don’t get that itch to go back.”
