This past Monday (Feb. 26) was the 6th anniversary of Trayvon Martin’s death at the hands of George Zimmerman who shot and killed him in Sanford, Fla. Martin’s unjust death sparked the Black Lives Matter movement and now a documentary about his life story.

JAY-Z has partnered with Paramount Network to produced a docuseries called Rest In Power: The Trayvon Martin Story, based on the life and legacy of Trayvon Martin. The six-part non-scripted documentary series will detail the circumstances surrounding Martin’s death and Zimmerman’s acquittal on a second-degree murder charge, which sparked protests and outrage worldwide.

The docuseries is based on the book, Rest in Power: The Enduring Life of Trayvon Martin, which was co-written by Martin's parents, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, who serve as executive producers on the television project. JAY-Z is also an executive producer along with Julia Willoughby Nason, Nick Sandow, Chachi Senior, Jenner Furst and Michael Gasparro.

The powerful trailer above features headlines associated with the controversial case and added voiceovers like "I don't want this to be swept under the rug" and "He was standing his ground." It ends with Sybrina Fulton's response to her son's death. "They say that time heals all wounds, it's does not," she says.

JAY-Z's docuseries, Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story, will premiere on the Paramount Network in July.
