Jay-Z Says He’ll Change Child’s Diapers, Talks About His Dad
The day when Jay-Z welcomes his newborn child into the world is nearing, and the Brooklyn MC is opening up about hip-hop's newest addition in GQ's latest issue, where Hov is given the recognition of one of the publication's "Men of the Year."
When asked if the veteran rhymer -- who's currently on tour with Kanye West promoting their joint album 'Watch the Throne' -- would take on diaper duty, the 41-year-old gave the appropriate answer any father should provide. "Of course, of course. percent," he said.
The 'N----s in Paris' creator will surely call on his experiences with his own father when raising his little one, though Jigga's dad wasn't a permanent fixture during his come-up.
"If your dad died before you were born, yeah, it hurts -- but it's not like you had a connection with something that was real," Jay tells GQ. "Not to say it's any better -- but to have that connection and then have it ripped away was, like, the worst. My dad was such a good dad that when he left, he left a huge scar. He was my superhero."
Jay-Z eventually spoke with his father in 2003, regarding the reasons behind he left the now global superstar when he needed his guidance. "[I talked about] what it did to me, what it meant, asked him why," he admits. "There was no real answer. There was nothing he could say, because there's no excuse for that. There really isn't. So there was nothing he could say to satisfy me, except to hear me out. And it was up to me to forgive and let it go."
The rapper and wife Beyonce are expecting their child in 2012. The former Destiny's Child frontwoman has already received baby shower gifts for the infant, including a $5,200 diamond bathtub, which is covered in Swarovski crystals.
