Jay Z has been a sports agent for six months now and he’s already being questioned for his alleged practices. According to ESPN, the rap mogul is reportedly under investigation by the Major League Baseball Players Association for giving a Yankees player a $34,000 watch for his birthday.

In late October, New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano, who is a client under Hov’s Roc Nation Sports, was in Belgium celebrating his 31st birthday at a party when he allegedly received a Shawn Carter Classic Fusion watch by Hublot. The baseball player posted a photo of the luxury gift on Instagram, which caught the attention of the baseball union.

As you may know, Jay Z helped design the pricey timepiece for his holiday collection with Barneys.

MLBPA rules forbid agents from giving their clients money or gifts exceeding $500 without notifying them in writing.

On top of that, a baseball source confirmed to ESPN that Cano is seeking a 10-year, $310 million contract from the Yankees, who offered him a one-year, $14.1 million qualifying offer before baseball's Monday deadline.

The rapper could face disciplinary action from the union if they feel he violated the rules. Insiders believe it will mostly likely be a stern warning and nothing else.

This isn’t the first time the Brooklyn MC has given one of his players an expensive gift. Jay presented the WNBA’s No. 3 pick, Skylar Diggins, with a $100,000 Mercedes Benz when she graduated from Notre Dame in May.

Reps for Jay Z have not issued a statement on the matter.
