Jay-Z: perpetually cool. The refrigerators in the rapper's 40/40 Club? Not so much. As TMZ reports, a blown motor in the nightspot's fridge might have been to blame for the bevvy of health code violations handed down Thursday (Jan. 19) by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Hova's hotspot was written up for storing food at improper temperatures, among other things, and was forced to close down. As 40/40 rep Ron Berkowitz told the gossip site, the fridge went on the fritz just before the inspectors arrived -- and before any bad food could be served to patrons.

The necessary repairs were made by noon the following day, Berkowitz said, and the club was allowed to reopen before the mishap could cost Jay any business.

Earlier this week, Jigga stopped by the space to host a grand reopening event and make his first public appearance since the birth of Blue Ivy, his and wife Beyonce's newborn baby girl.
