Jay Sean Dedicates 15-Track Mixtape to His ‘Mistress’
British singer Jay Sean, who just kicked off his co-headlining fall tour with Joe Jonas on Tuesday (Sep. 6), has just released a new mixtape entitled 'The Mistress,' to tide fans over until the release upcoming fourth album 'Freeze Time.'
The 15 track tape by the platinum-selling "one man boy band" features appearances by Lupe Fiasco on 'Say Yeah,' and fellow Cash Money rappers Birdman on 'Love' and Tyga on 'Sex 101.' As its title suggests, 'The Mistress' centers around Sean's struggle with infidelity, as he croons about his painful, sweet addiction to his mistress over Orange Factory Music's synthy, airy beats.
"For me, it's my new passion project," the 'Ride It' singer explained to Rap-Up TV. "It's a little nod to throwback R&B, the stuff that I grew up to. It's just fun. It's not going in there and over-thinking anything. It's just doing some stuff that I wanted to do, perhaps doing some stuff that America hasn't heard. It's showing the other side of me. It's my other love, my hidden love."
Jay Sean is the most successful British male urban artist in U.S. chart history, with an incredibly diverse international fan base, and has accrued over 250 million views on YouTube, making him one of the site's most popular artists. His forthcoming album 'Freeze Time' will feature production from Pharrell of the Neptunes and more.
